First Exterior Paint, Ready for Driveway

Here's a first glimpse at what the outside will look like after it's painted. I finished caulking the front of the garage today, and wanted to get a little paint up for a test. It's a little lighter than I imagined, but I think it will be good. I hope so, because we have 20 gallons of it, and it was not cheap.

Randy came today and graded 2/3 of the driveway to be ready to pour early tomorrow. We're really looking forward to having a non-muddy path into the house, especially with some of the flooring already done, and more coming.

Laminate upstairs done!

This picture represents the brief moment in time after Emily vacuumed and swiffered all the dust off the laminate before anybody stepped on it again. I think it's gorgeous.

Laminate, even more paint, and an interior door

This is Dirk pretending to get his hands squished while helping to install the laminate floor in the upstairs hallway. This stuff was a little tricky to figure out at first, as it didn't go together the same as the stuff we used at our last house, but we eventually got in a groove.

Emily was not posing for this picture, but I caught her in the act of painting our bedroom. I was a bit hesitant about the gray at first, but now I agree it's sexy.

With tile on one side and now laminate on the other, our functioning bathroom is finally ready for a door. Here's dad demonstrating how to do it.

Kid Work Day

The kids haven't been allowed to help at the house as much as they think they would like to, but today they finally got to come help. Here are Sawyer and Jonah helping Jim with the water heaters.

And Lydia helping scrape drywall mud off the floor in preparation for laminate flooring.

And still more paint...

Completed entry way paint. I cleaned the tiny windows while I was up there, so hopefully I won't have to walk the plank like that for a very long time.

More Paint, Light Fixtures, Plumbing

Here's a picture of another mom paint day. We really like this blue that we picked for the family room and living room.

And here's dad installing light fixtures. It's very exciting to walk into a room and flip a switch and have lights come on.

And here's our first toilet. I found it for $20 on ksl.com. A guy that remodels houses took it out of a basement where it was hardly used. It's all connected and working, and the portapotty's days are numbered.

And here's Jim taking a moment out of installing the water heaters to pose for a picture.

Permanent Power, Some Tile

We have permanent power finally! The city approved it almost three weeks ago, but apparently the fact that we have temporary power and city approval isn't enough for Rocky Mountain Power. They were waiting for me to call to tell them we wanted it.

We also have our first room of tile completed. I wanted to get the kids bathroom done so we could install a toilet and stop paying for the portapotty out front.
