Kitchen countertops and stair rail complete!

I think the cabinets really tone down the orange.

And Justin is a real craftsman. This is starting to look like a real house.
We had the inspector come over today to help us make a checklist of everything we need to finish in order to get a temporary certificate of occupancy. The list was longer than we'll be able to finish this week, so that means another week of late nights before we can move in.

More Driveway, and Cabinets!

We don't only get awesome sunsets here, but beautiful mornings as well. Here's the cement truck arriving to pour the remaining driveway and the approach.

And here's Adam the cabinet guy inspecting the installers' work in the kitchen.

Railing

Here's Justin beginning our stair rail. He lives across the field to the Northeast of us. He can see our house from his, and came over one day to ask if we needed a bid on railings. He had an impressive portfolio, and his bid was the best we got.

Chandelier!

Today dad hung the chandelier in the entry way. I wasn't around to help with the scaffolding like I intended to be for this momentous occasion, but dad said it was okay because mom was there to know if he fell.

More trim

Emily had fun using the nail gun to attach the trim in Sawyer and Lydia's rooms while I measured and cut. I still find it amazing how the trim completes the wall.

First trim work

Baseboards and door casing in the family room. It really helps a wall look finished to have trim on it.

Same for the stairs.
And the downstairs and master bathroom tile is now grouted. Hopefully the grout will encourage the tiles in the master bathroom to stay in place, after several detached and had to be reset.
